3 Reasons Nathan Petrelli Won't Die

1. Bro Peter can heal, therefore Peter's blood (like Adam's, like Claire's) will heal Nathan.
2. Claire could give more blood, healing her biological father this time (vs. adoptive).
3. Another "healing touch" character may be revealed, or Peter will time travel, meet Linderman, and learn to heal that way.

Yes, 3 is a bit more far-fetched, but I see no reason for it to be employed given that 1 and 2 are so obvious. I wanted to soak up the emotions of the assassination, I really did. "Oh no, Nate got shot!"

But seriously, after seeing Noah come back from a bullet to the eye, I don't think there's any reason for someone as likable as Nathan Petrelli to be so easily lost.

Or maybe other people don't like him so much? What do you think?

I think it would be terrible if Tim Kring decided to pull the plug on Nate. I think he is a far more complex character than Peter.(not that I don't adore Peter) I honestly believe a great dynamic will be lost. Save Nathan! He saved the world, save Nathan!

Also doesn't he already have the healing power, from where it was injected before? Wouldn't it stay in the system?

You're so right. Nate is awesome.

Wow, I didn't think of that. I did wonder with Sylar, since he healed from the shock wounds. Would he continue to heal? But I guess I had assumed that a one-time dose doesn't last.

In Smallville, the Luthors had used Clark's blood to bring dead people back, but if they weren't given an injection every 12 hours of more platelets, they'd start to die again. I guess I assumed Claire/Adam/Peter's blood would work the same way. But it would be interesting if it lasted forever. That would mean that Claire, Peter, and Adam all have the Fountain of Youth inside them! Any ordinary person could get a transfusion and live forever! Noah would be immortal, too!

I didn't think about that. That it could only last a certain time limit. I just assumed like any normal person, the blood would just mix into that of it's own. Meaning the healing power would just blend in.

Now I've had time to think about it, it makes no sense to kill of a character like Nathan, they owe Adrian Pasdar considering they gave him very little air time. I have no attachment to Nikki, so I don't really care for her. But with Nathan there is so much baggage and so many unresolved issues, especially with Claire.

I do think you might be on to something with point number three. I think it would be too easy for Claire or Peter to save Nathan. The Linderman thing is very clever!

That would be very interesting. Linderman was so intriguing! Maybe it's because they threw his name around a lot to build suspense before they revealed him, but I kind of think he got shortchanged. Malcolm McDowell is great. I hated losing D.L., and Alejandro too.

I guess death is part of what makes the show so compelling, but I think leaving certain characters alive will be even more powerful.

And I agree, I also want to see more Nate!

If Peter came to a different conclusion than Hiro, he could always travel back in time and stop the shooter.
